What is a portable hangar? Portable hangars are prefabricated sheds designed for the maintenance and storage of all types of aircraft. These pavilions are composed of a metal structure, made of steel or aluminum, and a stretched membrane roof that covers the structure. They are called portable because they are modular hangars, which, unlike conventional hangars, can be installed in a fixed or temporary location.

Did you know that... A portable hangar can accommodate everything from a private jet to large A380 aircraft.

Types of portable aviation hangars: Hangars can be classified according to the design of the portico and the shape of the roof. This gives the pavilion a different look and characteristics. Here we show you the five types of prefabricated hangars that we have at Okatent:

  • Gabled hangars: This type of hangar adapts to multiple spaces and allows for easy water evacuation. Its standard design with a double-sloped roof is one of the most sought-after due to its quality-price ratio. Find out more about gabled hangars.

  • Curved hangars: This design is a benchmark in the world of aviation hangars. The curved gantry allows for the manufacture of high-resistance buildings with very attractive designs. This format helps to achieve large span gantry structures. Click to learn more about curved hangars.

  • Polygonal hangars: The polygonal hangar is an ideal pavilion for reaching great heights. Although it is not the most common design, it is a good option for hangars where large aircraft are repaired and double height is required. You can find out more about polygonal hangars here.

  • Single-pitched hangars: Single-pitched hangars are ideal for expanding a space or making use of an existing structure. Find out more about single-pitched hangars.

  • EASA: European Aviation Safety Agency

  • DGAC: Directorate General of Civil Aviation of Spain

  • FAA: United States Federal Aviation Administration

  • GACA: General Authority of Civil Aviation of Saudi Arabia

Customization of aviation hangars: The versatility and adaptable design of our hangars allow us to offer different configurations:

  • Hangar access: At Okatent we have pedestrian access and sectional doors to facilitate the parking of aircraft. The pedestrian doors are made of lacquered steel with an anti-panic bar. The sectional doors can be made of canvas or sheet metal and can have an automatic opening/closing system.
  • Comprehensive lighting: The lighting is made up of low-consumption LED spotlights and their installation is integrated within the profiles without visible cables.

  • Adapted covers: The covers of the hangars can be translucent or opaque to take advantage of natural light or guarantee darkness inside. In addition, the covers can be pressurized to guarantee thermal and acoustic insulation.

  • Multifunctional enclosures: Hangars can be designed with or without side enclosures. If you want to install an enclosure, you can choose between folding curtains, sheet metal enclosures or sandwich panels with polyurethane insulation.

  • Air conditioning systems: To ensure the quality and thermal comfort of hangar users, Okatent offers the service of installing a central air conditioning system to regulate the temperature of the hangar.

  • Solar Panels: Hangars can generate their own power by placing panels on the roof. The larger the surface area, the more KW it can generate.

  • Hangar lettering: To fully customize your hangar, in addition to choosing the color, we also offer a lettering service to place your company logo or any information printed on the hangar canvas.

Did you know that… The hangar membrane is fireproof with an M2 rating.

Main advantages of portable hangars: Another important feature of our hangars is the OTRS cover

  • Modular hangars can be easily expanded after installation.

  • If you need to use the hangar at another airport, it can be dismantled and reassembled without losing properties.

  • They do not have central pillars to facilitate the circulation of aircraft inside them.

  • A prefabricated hangar is cheaper and easier to install than a conventional hangar.

  • The aluminum structures of the hangars are 100% recyclable

  • The design of the hangars is 100% customized to any type of project
