Fireproof modular buildings with EI120 and RF240 certification

In the world of logistics, safety and efficiency are key factors, especially when it comes to storing and managing dangerous goods. That’s why more and more companies are opting for innovative solutions such as fire-resistant modular halls, which combine functionality, durability and safety.
Today we will talk about modular pavilions with fireproof certification, sharing with you our most recent project carried out for the Danone logistics center in Aldaia (Valencia).

A fireproof pavilion tailored to Danone’s needs
The installed pavilion has dimensions of 27 x 50 x 12 meters and has been designed as a logistics centre for Danone products. The carefully designed structure not only meets functionality criteria but also meets strict safety standards.
Among its most notable technical features we find:
- Aluminium lattice structure: Lightweight yet strong, this structure facilitates assembly without compromising the stability or durability of the pavilion.
- Sandwich panels with rock wool insulation: They cover both the walls and the roof, guaranteeing fire resistance RF240 and EI120.
- Unique exterior profiles: Unlike other modular pavilions where the profiles are usually installed inside the sandwich panel, this design positions the profiles on the outside. This detail not only improves the aesthetics, but also maximizes the use of the interior space and facilitates maintenance.
- Square and uniform interior: Thanks to the application of sandwich panels on the roof, the pavilion offers a completely open interior, eliminating the usual triangular shape that is generated by leaving the metal porticos exposed. This detail provides a clean finish and optimizes the internal distribution of the space.

What do the EI120 and RF20 fire resistance certificates consist of?
The EI120 and RF240 certificates guarantee the fire resistance of modular pavilions. EI120 refers to the ability of construction elements (such as walls and roofs) to resist fire for 120 minutes, while RF240 is a specific certificate for sandwich panels, guaranteeing that they can withstand fire for 240 minutes.
These certificates are particularly relevant in constructions such as modular buildings, where fire safety is critical. Below we explain them in a schematic way.
"A modular warehouse prepared for the storage of dangerous products"
EI120 certificate for fire-resistant modular pavilions
- E (Tightness): Ensures that fire or hot gases do not pass through the construction element for the specified time (120 minutes, in this case).
- I (Thermal Insulation): Indicates that the heat generated by the fire is not transferred to the unexposed side during those same 120 minutes, keeping the adjacent area safe.
- 120 (Time): Represents the number of minutes that the element maintains its properties against fire (in this case, 2 hours).
- Applicable regulations: This classification is based on European standards, such as UNE-EN 13501-2, which regulates fire resistance requirements in buildings.

RF240 certificate for fire-resistant modular pavilions
- RF (Fire Resistance): Indicates that the element is capable of maintaining its structural integrity in the event of a fire.
- 240 (Time):It represents the time, in minutes, that the element can resist fire. In this case, 240 minutes (4 hours).
Accessories to reinforce this fireproof pavilion
In addition to the structural design, this pavilion includes a series of accessories that improve its functionality and operational efficiency:
- Sectional doors: These doors guarantee quick and safe access for vehicles and goods, facilitating daily logistics operations.
- Ventilation systems: Designed to ensure optimal air circulation, these systems contribute to maintaining ideal conditions for stored products.
- High-quality finishes: All elements have been selected to offer durability, efficiency and superior performance in demanding industrial environments.

Advantages of fire-resistant modular pavilions
Modular pavilions with fire-resistant features like this one offer multiple advantages for companies in different sectors:
- Regulatory compliance: They comply with strict industrial safety regulations, ensuring the peace of mind of customers and employees.
- Flexibility and customization: They adapt to the specific needs of the client, both in measurements and finishes.
- Fast and efficient assembly: Perfect for responding to immediate space demands without compromising quality.
- Greater durability: Materials such as rock wool are not only resistant to fire, but also to other external agents such as humidity and extreme temperatures.
