Large demountable tents for industrial use: a bespoke solution for covering large spaces

Large demountable tents are a useful solution for companies that need to cover extensive surfaces without building a conventional warehouse from scratch. They make it possible to gain space, protect operations and adapt facilities to new needs.

At Okatent, we design these bespoke spaces to create functional, durable areas that are ready to evolve with each company’s activity.

In this article, we will look at what large-format demountable tents are, when a company may need them and why large spans are key to making better use of the interior space.

Large demountable tents for demanding industrial projects

When people talk about demountable tents, they often think of small or medium-sized structures. This happens because not every company in the sector has the technical capacity to manufacture a large-format demountable tent.

At Okatent, thanks to our R&D team, we have the experience, resources and technical knowledge needed to create large-span tents with every guarantee.

We design large demountable tents to respond to the diverse operational needs of companies. They are prefabricated structures designed to create large covered spaces with safety, stability and functionality.

We do not approach them as a simple temporary cover. We design solutions prepared for demanding industrial use. One of the main advantages of our structures is that they allow us to work with very wide frames and great heights. This helps create a clear, open interior space, without intermediate pillars that limit the use of the surface area.

In addition, as they are demountable, they offer greater flexibility than a fixed construction. They can adapt to new needs, be extended, relocated or modified over time. This allows them to accompany the evolution of each project.

When does a company need a large demountable tent?

When a company needs to gain space without building a traditional warehouse from scratch, or when bespoke solutions are required, large demountable tents are a useful option.

Companies often need this type of structure when:

  • A sports complex needs to be covered, including courts, stands, changing rooms, a restaurant area and much more.
  • A large open-plan space without intermediate pillars is required.
  • Logistics needs change and a flexible solution is needed to store large amounts of stock.
  • The goal is to expand covered capacity without building a conventional warehouse that involves a high cost.
  • A large-span hangar is needed to store aircraft with large fuselages.

They are also an optimal solution when the company needs to keep operating while expanding its facilities. As they are prefabricated structures, the process is more controlled and helps reduce execution times.

That is why this type of tent does not only solve a lack of space. It also helps improve the company’s operational capacity.

Large spans: the key to making full use of the interior space

In industrial structures, spaciousness does not depend only on square metres. In large demountable tents, the design makes it possible to optimise the entire space and turn it into usable surface area.

When we refer to large spans, we are talking about the distance that a structure can cover between supports without the need for pillars. The greater this distance, the freer the interior space becomes.

At Okatent, we therefore focus on creating truly useful spaces. If there are too many pillars in the middle, the surface loses versatility and functionality. Circulation, layout and storage become limited. This allows us to create large demountable tents with wide frames and useful heights.

That is why, in demanding industrial projects like those of our clients, large spans are an operational advantage:

  • They allow easy reorganisation
  • They make it possible to expand work areas
  • They allow the structure to adapt to changing needs without limitations
  • They improve interior mobility

Large demountable tents designed to last

Did you know that… at Okatent we install large demountable tents, but that does not mean they are temporary solutions?

A large demountable tent should not be understood as a temporary or less resistant solution. At Okatent, we design demountable tents that can have durability equivalent to that of a conventional warehouse.

The difference lies in their ability to adapt. A demountable structure makes it possible to cover large spaces with stability and strength, while also offering the possibility of being modified in the future if necessary.

That is why, when we design a large demountable tent, we think of a solution prepared to remain in place over time and accompany the evolution of the activity.

In many cases, these structures are not replaced because they have reached the end of their service life. They are changed because the needs of the project change.

Large demountable tents are solid solutions designed to create an open-plan industrial space prepared to progress alongside the company.

Common uses of large demountable tents

Thanks to their ability to cover large spans and reach significant heights, large demountable tents are a useful solution for very different activities.

Industrial sector

In the industrial sector, large demountable tents make it possible to expand facilities, cover work areas or create new operational spaces. They are useful when a company needs more capacity without having to build a conventional warehouse.

Logistics sector

In logistics, having covered space is key. Large demountable tents are often used to create storage areas, loading and unloading areas, order preparation zones or goods transit areas.

Agri-food sector

Large demountable tents can be customised with the different types of industrial building covers that we manufacture at Okatent. This makes it possible to ensure good thermal insulation and create structures to protect raw materials, products, machinery or work areas. They also allow spaces that need to be protected from rain, sun or temperature changes to be covered.

Sports centres

In sports facilities, large demountable tents make it possible to cover courts, pitches and training areas. Their ability to work with large spans is essential in this type of project.

Commercial and trade fair sector

In commercial, trade fair or exhibition spaces, these structures make it possible to create large, protected areas. They are used for professional events, displays, customer service areas or temporary high-capacity spaces.

Aeronautical sector

These large-span demountable tents can be used as hangars to store aircraft, protect equipment or carry out maintenance work. Thanks to their great width, height and open-plan interior space, they can cover large aircraft and make movement inside the structure easier.

  • Width: 32,5 m
  • Length: 46,5 m
  • Height: 12 m

What should be considered before designing a large demountable tent?

Each project must be planned according to its intended use, the available space and the conditions of the environment. That is why it is essential to design fully customised and adapted structures.

These are some of the key aspects that should be assessed from the start:

  • Main use of the structure: The first step is to define what the tent will be used for. Its use will determine many design decisions.
  • Required surface area: It is important to calculate how many square metres the company needs. It is also advisable to consider whether this need may grow in the future.
  • Useful interior height: In a large demountable tent, height is just as important as surface area. Any element that must operate inside the space must be taken into account.
  • Ground conditions: Before designing the structure, the installation site must be studied. The type of ground, levelling, access points and available space influence the design, assembly and stability of the tent.
  • Location and surroundings: External conditions must also be considered. The usual climate conditions of the location directly influence the materials and types of covers chosen.
  • Access and circulation: It is important to define where people, vehicles, machinery or goods will enter. Doors, passageways and manoeuvring areas must be integrated from the initial design.
  • Possibility of extension or relocation: A company’s needs may change. That is why it is advisable to anticipate whether the structure will need to be extended, modified or relocated in the future.
  • Regulations and safety: The design must also take into account the technical and safety requirements applicable to each project.

When a company considers when to install demountable industrial tents, it is important to understand that all these factors must be analysed. At Okatent, we study each project individually. The goal is to design a large demountable tent that fits the company’s activity, makes good use of the space and can accompany its evolution over time.

Frequently asked questions about large-format demountable tents

Do large demountable tents need foundations?

Yes. Large-format demountable tents always need to be fixed to the ground to guarantee the safety and performance of the structure.

The fixing system will vary depending on the ground, the size of the tent, its height, the intended use and the conditions of each installation.

What maintenance does a large demountable tent need?

The maintenance required by a large demountable tent is minimal, provided that it has been designed and manufactured with strong, highly durable materials.

Even so, it is advisable to carry out periodic inspections to check the general condition of the structure, the cover, the enclosures and the fixing systems. This ensures that the tent maintains its performance, safety and functionality over time.

Can large demountable tents be adapted to activities with special temperature requirements?

Yes. Large demountable tents can be adapted to activities that require special temperature, insulation or interior comfort conditions. To do this, it is important to study the type of cover, enclosures, ventilation and any complementary systems that each project may need.

At Okatent, we have solutions such as pressurised covers with the OKCAS® system, which incorporate an air chamber between two layers of canvas to improve thermal insulation and performance in demanding weather conditions. Opaque, translucent or fibre-insulated covers can also be considered, depending on the level of thermal control required by the activity. In this way, the structure does not only cover a space; it also helps create an interior environment better adapted to the intended use.

What is the maximum height a large demountable tent can have?

At Okatent, we have built high demountable tents for highly demanding projects. One of the most notable examples is a hangar that reached 20 metres in height. Even so, this figure should not be understood as a fixed maximum limit. Each project is studied individually and, if the use, ground, location and technical requirements allow it, even taller structures can be assessed.

What is the maximum length a demountable tent can have?

There is no predetermined maximum length. As it is a modular construction, a demountable tent can be extended by adding as many modules as necessary, always according to the limitations of the available space.

At Okatent, we study each case individually to define the most suitable length and design a safe, functional structure adapted to real use.
